Saline Tattoo Lightening/Removal

Do you have a cosmetic or small body tattoo that you no longer want? We’re here to help!

What is saline tattoo lightening/removal?

Saline is the key component in the process of lightening/removing ink from the skin through the application of a saline solution.  At Aesthetication, we use a saline solution called LI-FT, created by Li Pigments.  It is produced in a sterile environment and consists of a formulation that is gentle on the skin and improves healed results compared to other methods of saline removal.  LI-FT being a salt solution (including lemon seed extract, orange seed extract, and aloe) works on the theory of osmosis by lifting unwanted pigment to the surface.

Results vary due to color of the ink and method of application by the previous artist.  Whether the ink is dark or light, saline will help draw out the ink/pigment to the surface when the treated area scabs and falls off naturally.

How does this compare to laser?

Laser involves different wavelengths of light to target different colors.  Laser will break up the ink in the skin to be processed internally by the body. Saline, on the other hand, will lift the ink to the surface and be removed from the body externally.

What should you expect?

The first step is to apply a numbing solution to keep the client as comfortable as possible.  Then, the saline solution is inserted into the skin with a tattoo machine.  It is very similar to a tattoo process, but saline solution is used in place of ink.  This process can take several sessions and yield varied results.  If laser has been attempted already, saline lightening/removal can help further lighten the tattoo.  There is an 8 week healing process in-between saline treatments. No exceptions.
