What is Microblading?

Microblading is the process of gently implanting color pigment beneath the surface of the skin by means of a small, sterile, disposable needle to produce the appearance of fuller eyebrows or to enhance the natural features of the face.

What is Microblading and Shading?

In addition to microblading, shading creates a soft brow powder look by the means of implanting tiny droplets of pigment with a tattoo machine. This creates beautiful depth. The result will look natural and will NOT appear solid.

*Note: Shading can often times be referred to as ombré, soft ombré, and powder brows.

What is Shading?

Shading alone creates a soft brow powder look by the means of implanting tiny droplets of pigment with a tattoo machine. The result will look natural and will NOT appear solid. Shading is great for most skin types and the best option for thinner skin.

Will it hurt?

A topical anesthetic containing 5% lidocaine is applied before the procedure begins.  Then, a second numbing application containing epinephrine is done during the procedure to make it as comfortable for you as possible.

How Long Will it Last?

The treatment is considered permanent and will not wash off, however, it will fade over time and may need a touch-up every 1-2 years. Frequency of touch-ups depends on a number of factors including:

  • the pigment color used (lighter colors fade faster)

  • lifestyle (sun exposure / sweat)

  • iron deficiency (your body absorbs iron-oxide as a supplement)

  • if any chemical peels come into contact with treated areas.

Please note that final results cannot be guaranteed as each unique skin type will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. The tattooed hair strokes tend to have a more crisp look once healed on dry skin compared to more blurry strokes on oily skin.   I will re-evaluate how your skin has received the pigment at your touch-up appointment and make any changes necessary.

Touch-ups are normal for cosmetic tattoo procedures, with each new procedure requiring 2 visits. The initial procedure is followed by a touch-up procedure, if needed, about 6-8 weeks later.

I have previously tattooed eyebrows

Each person’s skin heals differently and therefore require an evaluation to determine if color is light enough to blend in with microblading and shading. Sometimes removal is necessary due to incorrect shape and color density. Please contact me with clear pictures of your brows with no makeup. This will allow the process of a virtual consultation.

 Fitzpatrick Skin Type Quiz

Skin type is often categorized according to the Fitzpatrick scale which ranges from very fair (skin type I) to very dark (skin type VI). The two main factors that influence skin type and the treatment program devised by your technician are: genetic disposition and reaction to sun exposure and tanning beds.

The way your skin responds to sun exposure is another way of correctly assessing your skin type. Recent tanning, whether by the sun or an artificial tanning booth, even tanning creams, can have a major impact on your skin color evaluation.

By using the information you provided on this form, we can be better prepared to provide you with the best care.  Please fill out this questionnaire.
